Neurotoxins are temporarily relax the muscles of the face that contract and ultimately cause wrinkling and lines. Neurotoxins work by preventing the release of signals (acetylcholine) from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, muscle contraction is inhibited, and the muscles from our facial expressions are softened for a more youthful appearance. Commonly injected areas include forehead lines, vertical lines between the eyes, lines around the eyes, chin dimples, under arms (axillary hyperhidrosis), and vertical lip lines. Results are noticed several days after treatment and continue to improve within a 14 day period. Each individual responds differently to neurotoxins, so our provider will thoroughly assess you and explain what you should expect. Typically neurotoxins last 3-4 months.
